Tony Stewart's All-American Racing supports all DirectInput and XInput steering wheels and controllers. It has button mappings for many common steering wheels and XInput devices already included, but due to the wide variety of steering wheels and input devices available for the PC, it is impossible to include configurations for all of them.
If your input device does not initially work with the game, or you want to change which controls perform which actions, you need to configure it in the Options. Launch the game and, from the Main Menu, select Options. Then, select the Input Mapping tab. You can use the keyboard to navigate the menus.
On this screen you can assign buttons and inputs for every function in the game. Press Up and Down to scroll through the list (note that the list scrolls through multiple pages), and press "Assign Control" (defaults to Enter on the keyboard) to assign a button or input to the selected function. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the process.
Some of the game functions have both a normal and a Digital version:
- If the control you want to use is a button (such as a button or directional pad on a gamepad), choose the Digital version.
- If the control you want to use has a range of motion (such as an analog stick, a steering wheel, or a pedal), choose the non-Digital version.
Repeat this procedure for every control that you want to assign in the game. When you are done, press the "Back" button (defaults to Esc on the keyboard) and Save when prompted.
